Collecting postcards is now almost an incurable collective hobby. Postcard collecting is presently rated as the third largest collectible hobby in the USA. Since the 1980s this "new" hobby increasingly garners a rapidly growing field of passionate informed collectors. At the top tier of hobby is a format known as the "Real Photograph Postcard" (RPPC).History is repeating itself with the trend in renewed postcard collecting. It was 100 years ago that a brief 12 span of postcard collecting started in the USA, also resulting in the hobby becoming the largest collecting field in the USA. Only a World War stopped the Postcard hobby at that time.And it is also in history that we can find out the answers to what the appeal of an RPPC is, and why one is so desirable to image collectors.If a picture speaks a thousand words, then a photographic image conveys endless essays on what we as Americans are, where we came from and what we have the potential to become ......Will Portland Postcards increase in value?Portland Postcards printed in 2006 and beyond are on archival quality card stock. This means it is acid free and will not turn yellow or crumble. 2006 cards and later printings are also on beautiful, extra heavy cardstock (15 point weight).Since Portland Postcards are contemporary, they will eventually become "historical," for, as we all know, times change. What was once "new" is now considered "archival" and are collectors items. So, too, will quite likely be the future of Portland Postcards. We regret that a few businesses prohibited their names from being used.Portland Postcards are now available for beautiful Portland Parks and Nature Scenes, as well as some Amusement parks and Midways. Drawings of Skateboarders are also available, and a Skateboarder photographic postcard is almost ready. All Portland Postcard places are approachable, all photos at ground level -- not aerial shots.Directions given on each Postcard will get you "there from here" by public transit or by automobile or bicycle.
